Prof. Yao Jialong from New Zealand Institute for Bioeconomy Science Limited Visited IFST. On April 8, a delegation led by Prof. Yao Jialong from New Zealand Institute for Bioeconomy Science Limited, together with Prof. Li Minji  and Prof. Zhang Qiang from Institute of Forestry and Pomology, Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, visited IFST for exchanges on pre-harvest fruit cultivation, postharvest preservation, mining of genes regulating fruit quality, and research commercialization.

IFST Held an Academy-Enterprise Matching Event Jointly with Zibo City. On April 16, IFST, together with Zibo Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, co-hosted the Academy-Enterprise Matching Event of Zibo Ago-products Processing Enterprises Visiting IFST. IFST gave a detailed presentation on its achievements in carrying out scientific and technological innovation based on industrial demands and boosting integrated development of research, enterprises and industries, and elaborated on various models for commercializing scientific and technological achievements as well as their respective strengths. Experts from IFST presented their latest technological outcomes respectively. Enterprise representatives had in-depth discussions with experts regarding technical bottlenecks and demands in production, reaching preliminary intentions for further cooperation.

IFST Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreement to Jointly Build Shenzhen International Agri-Food Innovation Center. On May 15, IFST, together with the Institute of Genomics, the Institute of Quality Standard and Testing Technology for Agro-Products and the Institute of Nutrition and Health, signed a framework strategic cooperation agreement in Shenzhen to co-establish the Shenzhen International Agri-Food Innovation Center. In accordance with the agreement, adhering to the principles of openness and cooperation, complementary advantages, resource sharing, collaborative innovation and win-win development, the four parties will carry out high-standard, extensive, all-round and multi-level strategic cooperation in fields including collaborative scientific and technological innovation, talent training and exchange, as well as achievement transformation services.

IFST Conducted Exchange and Postgraduate Admission Information Session at South China Agricultural University. On May 11, a delegation led by Wen Yang, Assistant Dean of the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Prof. Fan Bei, Deputy Director of IFST, visited South China Agricultural University for research exchanges. At the meeting, both sides held in-depth discussions on joint postgraduate training, reached a consensus to establish a dual-supervisor training model leveraging their respective disciplinary strengths, jointly advance the sharing of research resources and cultivation of high-caliber talents, and sign a joint postgraduate training agreement. Following the meeting, IFST held a postgraduate admission information session at the College of Food Science, South China Agricultural University, which attracted more than 50 students.

"Whole-Cell Biosensor Array and Its Applications" Developed by IFST won the Gold Medal at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva. This Technological Achievement is developed by Grain and Oil Loss Reduction & Mycotoxin Prevention and Control Innovation Team. Taking living microbial cells as sensing units, this technology identifies characteristic volatile compounds released during fungal growth and converts them into visual bioluminescent signals, enabling rapid, non-destructive and in-situ detection.

Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering Visits IFST. On June 12, Zhai Xuemei, Party Secretary of Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering, and Xu Yujuan, Vice President of Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering, led a delegation to IFST for research exchanges. This visit further consolidated the foundation for communication and cooperation between the two sides. Both parties agreed to carry out pragmatic cooperation in scientific research tackling, achievement transformation, platform development and talent cultivation in the next step, so as to realize resource exchange, complementary strengths and mutual benefits for win-win results.

IFST Holds the 2026 Postgraduate Graduation Ceremony. On June 15, the 2026 postgraduate graduation ceremony of IFST was successfully held. Liu Rongrong delivered a speech on behalf of the institute. She encouraged the graduates to stay true to the original aspiration as researchers of the institute as they embark on a new chapter of life, write their theses on the vast land of China, and translate technologies to meet industrial demands. Graduate representatives presented flowers to the supervisors to express their gratitude.

IFST hosted "Blue Tuesday" Academic Seminar. On June 25, Prof. Zhao Guanghua from the College of Food Science and Nutritional Engineering, China Agricultural University, was invited to IFST to deliver an academic report titled Cage Ferritin Single-Molecule and Supramolecular Self-Assembly Design and Its Applications. This academic seminar was organized by the Plant Protein Research Team and presided over by Prof. Shi Aimin, attracted more than 50 participants, including researchers and postgraduate students engaged in relevant fields.

A Cooperation Agreement Signed between IFST and Shunranhengxian Company. Recently, Shunranhengxian (Beijing) Space Technology Co., Ltd. and the Meat Science Team of IFST inked a cooperation agreement on the joint promotion of space electric field fresh-keeping technical equipment. Under the agreement, both parties will leverage the team’s research achievements in mechanisms of synergistic antiseptic and fresh-keeping via electric field coupled low temperature, enhanced electric field plates, as well as space electric field fresh-keeping technical equipment.
