Coordinator General of COMSTECH-OIC visited IFST-CAAS

On October 28th, Prof. Mohammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of MINISTERIAL STANDING COMMITTEE ON SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL COOPERATION OF ORGANIZATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION (COMSTECH-OIC), and Professor Liu Xinmin, Traditional Medicine Consultant of World Health Organization (WHO), visited Institute of Food Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IFST-CAAS). Prof. Wang Fengzhong, Director General of IFST-CAAS and Prof. Wang Qiong attended the meeting.

Prof. Wang Fengzhong welcomed the visit of Prof. Iqbal and Prof. Liu Xinmin, highlighted the cooperation and exchanges in food and medicine homology carried out by China-Pakistan Nutrition and Health Research Center, which was joint established by IFST and International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences of University of Karachi, Karachi, and hoped that both sides could further deepen cooperation in the research and development of nutrition and health, functional foods, and infant and toddler foods based on the actual needs of the industries in China and Pakistan.

Prof. Iqbal highly praised the achievements made by the China-Pakistan Nutrition and Health Research Center since its establishment. He stated that this platform was of great significance in solving the challenges in the field of nutrition and health in Pakistan, hoped that both sides could further deepen cooperation and built a platform between CAAS and OIC. He hoped this cooperation framework could contribute to the improvement of the nutritional health and quality safety level of halal food in Islamic countries.

At the meeting, both sides agreed to jointly hold the first China-Pakistan Youth Science Academy Seminar in Pakistan in April 2025, and had detailed discussions on jointly applying for national level international joint laboratories, national level international cooperation projects, and joint training of young scholars and students.
