On October 8, Prof. Olga Yu. Orlova, Director of the Food Technology Center at ITMO University, and Prof. Liudmila Nadtochii led a delegation to visit the Institute of Food Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IFST, CAAS). They were accompanied by Prof. Jiang Lianzhou from Northeast Agricultural University and Prof. Mei Shiwei, Party Secretary of the College of Food Science and Engineering, Jilin University. More than 20 participants, including Fan Bei, Deputy Director of IFST, and representatives of research teams attended the exchange meeting.

Prof. Fan Bei extended a warm welcome to the visiting experts. She noted that leveraging the grain resource advantages of Northeast China, IFST has established long-term and stable collaborative innovation partnerships with Northeast Agricultural University and Jilin University in grain and oil loss reduction, protein processing, and comprehensive utilization of agricultural by-products. ITMO University boasts strong research capabilities in biotechnology and food engineering, and shares many common interests with IFST in research areas and talent training. She looked forward to continuous communication among all parties to advance practical multi-field cooperation and deliver tangible outcomes.

Prof. Mei Shiwei spoke highly of IFST’s achievements in scientific and technological innovation, industrial support, talent training and platform development. He stated that both College of Food Science and Engineering, Jilin University and IFST focus on industrial demands and technological innovation, sharing highly consistent development concepts. He hoped to deepen cooperation with IFST and ITMO University in joint research and joint talent cultivation to facilitate resource sharing and complementary advantages.

During the meeting, Professor Olga Yu. Orlova, together with representatives from IFST’s research teams presented their research focuses, existing achievements and cooperation intentions, laying a foundation for future substantive collaboration.

The delegation also visited the Integrated Laboratory for Processing Technology of Chinese Meat Dishes and Food X AI Laboratory.
