Agriloop Innovation Conference in High-value Products from Agri-food Residues Held in Beijing

From April 7th to April 8th, Agriloop Innovation Conference in High-value Products from Agri-food Residues jointly hosted by the Institute of Food Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IFST-CAAS) and National Institute for Agricultural Food and Environmental Research, France (INRAE) was held in Beijing.

With the theme of "Full scale high-value bio-transformation promoting low-carbon and circular utilization in agriculture", this conference includes five main forums and two parallel roundtable discussions. The main theme forum focuses on the development direction and cooperation opportunities of circular economy between China and EU, the green circulation of innovative value chain of agricultural organic waste, efficient recycling and utilization of natural functional factors, microbial, fungal protein and microbial polyester biotransformation technology, and pilot demonstration and evaluation of circular utilization technology. Representatives from the EU Embassy in China, Italian Embassy in China, scholars from Wageningen University, Bologna University, as well as representatives from Tomapoint Company, Paques Biomaterials Company, Kaneka Company, and COFCO Nutrition and Health Research Institute, shared the latest research progress and future prospects in circular economy policies, biotechnology transformation pathways, green extraction of proteins and functional factors, and industrialization of microbial polyesters.

During the conference, Prof. Liu Rongrong, DG of IFST, Florent Chazarenc, International Project Manager INRAE, Prof. Nathalie Gontard, and Prof. Shi Aimin jointly unveiled the "China-EU Joint Laboratory on Low-Carbon Recycling of Agricultural Residues", and together with Jo Cadilhon, Agriculture Counsellor of French Embassy in China, awarded the plaque of "Demonstration Base for Low-Carbon Recycling of Agricultural Residues" to six Chinese participating enterprises in the Agriloop project, creating a support platform for the implementation of project technology achievements.

More than 150 representatives from Rural Energy and Environment Agency, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the European Union Embassy in China, the French Embassy in China, the Italian Embassy in China, the Spanish Embassy in China, as well as representatives from Chinese and European research institutions, universities, and enterprises attended the conference.
