Research of the cultivation and preparation technologies for High-yield GTF Yeast Strain

    This research result won the Second-class S&T Award of Beijing Municipality in 2012. It has included the research and application activities for efficient extraction of glucose tolerance factor (GTF), establishment of test methods, cultivation of high-yield strains, optimization of high-yield fermentation conditions, function evaluation and structural characteristics of GTF functions, identified the pattern of biological absorption and chromium bioconversion during the yeast fermentation, and established the efficient extraction and test methods for GTF and the fermentation tank preparation process with secondary-flow chromium addition. The chromium-enriched yeast prepared by this technology has a higher content of organic chromium and biomass than the current levels specified in the domestic and foreign reports. GTF yeast powder can improve the physical signs of diabetic mice and has the effects of blood sugar reduction and pancreas protection. As the number of diabetic people grows, the demand for food-borne sugar reduction food has increased significantly.
